Ruckus Media Group, a global mobile family entertainment company, asked FableVision to help it launch a series of animated iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch applications of classic children's stories. FableVision oversaw the design and technical development of the digital story app engines, along with the first five titles in the Ruckus line. The relationship was so productive that RMG asked us to develop an additional 6 titles.

The Ruckus apps take the mobile storytelling experience to a new level. The apps draw from the award-winning Rabbit Ears Library and feature well-known classic children's stories, such as The Velveteen Rabbit, Tom Thumb and the Knights of the Round Table, Pecos Bill, John Henry, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The books are read by Hollywood celebrities, including Meryl Streep, John Cleese, Robin Williams, Denzel Washington, and Meg Ryan. Each app includes music by such luminaries as Elvis Costello, Ry Cooder, B.B. King, Mark Isham, and George Winston.

Each Play-Read-and-Record-Along application includes a classic video, readable text story, and the ability to record voices for personalized storytelling - a child or parent can record his/her own voice and hear it with the story.

We incorporated a unique feature: when a reader swipes through a story, the text moves in parallax over the background images. This gives the screens a 3D effect and allows the storyline and the artwork to flow independently.
